News and Events
The Schmitz Park PTA invites you to the last general meeting of the year, where they will be voting on officers and the budget. Childcare during the meeting is provided. For more information, go to www.schmitzparkpta.org.
Staff will soon be considering placement of students' for next year's homerooms. Parent input is very valuable in the process, so please feel free to complete the Parent Input Form and return it to the main office by May 29th. Please note, this form asks for information about your child that we may not know and that may help to ensure a good placement for next year – we cannot honor requests for specific teachers.
There are OPEN positions that must be filled in order to keep our PTA running effectively. Please consider joining the Board to support the legacy Schmitz Park parents, students and staff have worked so hard to build. Elections are May 28! Visit schmitzparkpta.org to find out how you can get involved.
We are still fund raising for next year’s budget, which includes critical supports for every child in the school. If you have not contributed to the PTA this year, please choose to Give Direct. Our budget continues to grow each year as does our student population. For us to continue raising necessary funds, we everyone need to GIVE something. This year’s ask is $380 per child – but any contribution you can make helps! Our budget provides for essential supplies for all areas of the school, including an amazing art program. We pay for teacher enrichment, additional technology, subscriptions, and books for the classrooms and school library. Without all of our support, Schmitz Park Elementary would not be what it is today. We have amazing teachers and staff, and services and programs other schools do not have. Please help us to continue our legacy. Click here to GIVE WHERE YOU LIVE. Thank you!
Schmitz Park Community we need your help! We have created a sign up genius for 2 recess monitor shifts daily. This is a way that many of you can be involved without a long term commitment. Just choose a slot and come help out at recess. Please see the sign up genius for more details and remember to complete all of your volunteer paperwork. Thanks for your support of our school! Email firstname.lastname@example.org with questions.

Seattle Public Schools requirements for volunteering at school have changed slightly for the 2014/2015 school year. Please make sure that you . . .
- Complete a Washington State Patrol background check (this must be conducted every year);
- Provide a copy of your drivers license to the front office ;
- Complete an online sexual harassment training and print out the certificate and provide a copy to the front office.
Click here for the link to the training.
Please note that all volunteers must sign in at the front desk using Help Counter and print a badge. Those parents who have not completed all three steps in the volunteer process, will not show up as volunteers in this system and will be asked to register as a visitor until they can complete the process. Please let us know if you need access to a computer at school in order to complete the training. We appreciate your help and cooperation with these new requirements.
